Sadolin Extra Durable Woodstain – Weatherproof Exterior Wood Stain for Ultimate Protection

A tough, weatherproof wood stain that has been specially formulated to provide long-lasting colour and protection to exterior wood. Enhancing the natural beauty of wooden features, this hardwearing wood stain is flexible and is ideal for use as a topcoat over Sadolin Classic for maximum durability on new or bare doors or windows. Protective Wood Treatment and Colour for Your Home and Garden Unpredictable weather can cause irreparable damage to wooden surfaces. Changing temperatures -along with the effects of rain and moisture - mean that throughout the year exterior wood is subjected to a barrage of different weather conditions, which can in time cause flaking, peeling and damage. Sadolin Extra Durable Woodstain has an advanced, flexible formulation that offers ultimate protection for exterior softwood and hardwood surfaces such as wooden doors, windows, and conservatories. This solvent-based formula resists and reduces peeling, flaking, and blistering of wood surfaces, and can be used as a topcoat over Sadolin Classic for ultimate durability and protection.
PREPARATION:

We recommend a trial application before you start. The final colour will depend on the original colour and condition of the wood and the number of coats applied.
NEW OR BARE WOOD: Timber exposed to the weather for 4 weeks or more should be mechanically sanded back to a clean, sound surface. Wipe down bare time with a cloth dampened with methylated spirits. Do not use white spirit. If using a non-durable timber treat with a clear preservative (e.g. Sadolin Wood Preserver) before using a woodstain.
PREVIOUSLY PAINTED OR VARNISHED SURFACES: Strip bare and treat as new wood.
PREVIOUSLY WOODSTAINED SURFACES: Any loose, flaking coating should be removed by use of a scraper and abrasive paper. Any grey denatured timber should be mechanically sanded back to a clean sound surface. Any mould and algal growth must be eradicated using a suitable fingicide/algicide. Wash surfaces with a milk detergent and rinse with clean water. Allow to fully dry. Wipe all surfaces with a cloth dampened with methylated spirits.

APPLICATION:

Ensure surfaces to be stained are clean and dry. Stir well before and during application. Do not apply at temperatures below 8°C or above 25°C, in damp conditions or when rain is imminent. Touch in any bare areas to match the surrounding colour. Avoid over brushing as this will result in brush marks. Lightly de-nib between coats if there is any raised grain. New work requires a two coat application.* Maintenance will require 1 or 2 coats depending on the amount of weathering that has occurred."
